It’s finally the end of the first week and I’ve found out many interesting and useful things. Here’s a list:
- work increases the value of weekends by 100% (#1!!!)
- scientists + marketing = bad mix - This isn’t always true, however, there’s a lot of miscommunication/understanding between the two groups. Maybe because their goals are different.
- always document the things you do - It’s a good way to keep track of what you’re doing and also makes the life of other people easier if they ever need to follow up on your projects.
- avoid doing things like tradeshows at the last minute - I don’t think some people know that coordinating tradeshows takes a lot of time, especially in terms of shipping, travel and hotel arrangements. With so many people attending the conference, hotels are usually booked full about 4 months prior to the show so if you don’t want to get stuck at a place far far away, make your reservation early.
- keep track of every penny you spend - How can you evaluate your budget if you don’t keep track of the money you spend? There should be purchase order for everything and they should be filed properly per project.
So things haven’t been exactly organize and I’m having a slight nervous breakdown over some crazy deadline. When ever people ask how I like the job so far the word I reply is “exciting”. Anyways, I’ve managed to have lunch with RS on Thursday [we have been planning lunch/drinks since September but haven’t got around to it] and she has been helping me out by giving me some of her contacts to make my life a little easier. I owe her now because I was sending her some panic S.O.S message on MSN because of the last minute tradeshow stuff. I offered to clean her closet. *lol*

(I offered to clean her closet. *lol*) I seriously LOL’d, that must be some serious debt right there, my imagination ran
wild with that one. I am really feeling you on the value of weekends, you are very lucky that your work doesn’t follow
you home on the weekends!
my school work follows me into my dreams…i’ve stopped working one of my jobs altogether… /dies. The value of just
browsing the net has gone up 100%!
