Ok so maybe I’m not at the “Go!” part yet but I’m ready for tomorrow I think. My mom helped me altered my pants and I’ve ironed all my shirts. Now just need to pack my bag tonight and I should be ready. Sounds like the first day of school doesn’t it. It’s been a while since I’ve been in the office and I’m a little nervous. Also the massive amount of rain we’re getting isn’t helping. I miss my sunshine. I hope the weather gets better soon. It’s been cold but at least if it’s dry it doesn’t feel as bad.
In preparation of Monday’s work, I went shopping at Metrotown with Al on Saturday. I needed some business casual clothing aka shirts, dress pants, sweaters. Normally you’d think a female should have those type of clothing but not I. My closet is full of jeans, t-shirts, sweat shirts and some blouses which isn’t really suitable for the office environment. It’s the same for shoes [Converse & Pumas] and bags [small, sporty types].
We went to buy pants first. I’m really picky about my clothes and I almost always buy the same style/cutting. We went to GAP for pants because they offer ankle cut which is perfect for my height. However since cotton pants will shrink a little I bought the regular length, wide-legged pants. I like wearing wide-legged pants since it’s more comfy but I need to alter mine a bit because it’s about 1″ too long. I was going to buy either another pair of pants or a skirt but couldn’t find anything I liked at both RW&Co and GAP so I gave up.
Next we found some really nice wool sweater from SmartSet and a cute shirt from RW&Co. I’m really afraid of coldness and usually wear a lot of layers or a really heavy jacket when I go out. These sweaters will keep me warm without being too bulky. I picked a grey and a red one. Al wanted me to buy a black sweater but I think it makes me look like a stick so I didn’t get them. =.=
When we were looking for shoes, which I didn’t find anything I liked, we ended up picking up a nice handbag. It was just the right size and more “mature” looking than any bags I own. I was looking for something that’s big since I like to carry a lot of stuff, but not so big that it looks like I’m trying to run away from home or something. The best part was that it’s on sale. *haha*
After 3 hours of shopping we were both really tired. Al was lecturing me all through the shopping process, saying how I should’ve bought all these business casual type of clothing a long time ago as they are pretty much essential to any female’s closet. I told me that since I used to work in a casual environment, then I worked from home, so I didn’t really need this type of clothing. Besides, I look very weird in them. =x
I think the next item on my “must buy” list for work clothes is a really nice suit. Maybe I’ll get a matching tie. I love wearing ties for some odd reason.
I brought a couple of Nintendo DS games back in September and Brain Age 2 was one of them. Before I bought the game I thought Brain Age was just some game with many puzzles to keep you from being bored, which was why I bought it. It is true that it has a lot of puzzles, like word games and math problems. They are not tough but trying to do them as fast as possible had prove to be a challenge.
I remember the first time I tried calculating my “brain age” - the age of your brain, which doesn’t necessary equal to your actual age - it was 77 years old. *lol* The series of tests it has you complete is to see how fast your brain works. For example one of them is playing rock, paper, scissors. There’ll be one of those on the screen and an instruction to either win or lose. You’ll have to call out your answer based on the instruction given. I can’t believe how slow my reaction was when I first started. I can see rock, and I’m supposed to win so obviously I need to call our paper. However, when I read the instruction and look at the symbol it took a few seconds for my brain to register it. Maybe I’m getting old. Anyhow, after completing some training my brain is now 37! Such wonderful improvement!
Oh ya I’ve also found something fun that I’ve never thought I’d do and that’s sudoku [数独] - “a logic based puzzle which the the objective is to fill a 9×9 grid so that each column, each row, and each of the nine 3×3 boxes contains the digits from 1 to 9, only one time each.” I hated math and numbers all thought elementary and high school so I didn’t think I’d actually like playing sudoku. I’ve been playing it everyday, just before I sleep [it helps puts me to sleep actually *haha*] and also on the bus when I have a long ride. I’m thinking of buying more sudoku games for DS and now Al thinks I’m a nerd.
This isn’t my first blog, but it’s the first that I’ve gotten a domain for. I’ve used many free blogging sites before and had tried design layouts of my own. Now I find that I don’t have the time to actually code everything by hand or make crazy layout changes and what I want to do is focus more keeping my blog up to date. As time passes by, I find that it’s hard to keep in contact with people you’ve met along the way - such as friends from high school/university, people whom I’ve worked with, as well as the ones from all over the world that I’ve had the pleasure to meet through gaming. Even thought we might not have the time to sit down and have coffee, or talk on MSN, at least here’s a place where they can find out what’s happening in this interesting life of mine.
