New Year, New Look

Happy belated New Year! Best wishes in 2009!

I’ve been quite busy the past few weeks so I didn’t get to update the site. Here’s what’ve been happening so far:

1) I’ve moved from a Marketing & Sales Coordinator to a Marketing Communication Specialist. Yay! There are lots of major projects coming up in this first quarter and I’m a little nervous. Hopefully all will turn out well and we’ll be able to bring in some revenue.

2) I got this super cute T-shirt from Mimi Mcqueen during boxing week sale. It’s 50% off! I also got a dress from there for $16! A look at this T-shirt and you’ll know why I got it:

Meow meow meow! Ok the only thing that’s “bad” about it is everyone seems to want to tug at the cherry. Please refrain from tugging at them! See the expression on Meow’s face? He means business.

3) There’ve been some crazy snowstorm over the past few weeks. I was so glad I decided to buy the Helly Hanson boots on boxing day. It kept me warm and dry while I stomp all over the slush on my way to and from work.

I finally upgraded to Wordpress 2.7 and updated all my plugins. As you can see I’ve also change to a new theme for the new year. I really liked the little photo space up at the top right. Hopefully I’ll be able to take some new photos each month to post there.

Busy Busy

My apologies for the lack of posts lately. Work had somewhat took over my life the past couple of weeks. I’m currently up at Kelowna attending a conference and won’t be back till Sunday.

A lot of other stuff have been going on as well. I’ve been feeling a bit on the low end so I’d like to get back into baking/cooking to cheer myself up. Hopefully I’d be able to do that soon but with all the conferences going on next month, it might be a bit tough to fit it in. Some of the stuff I want to try to make is mini baked sausage buns, apple pies and pastries.

Jan’s Still Here

This post is so overdued, I know, but I’ve been quite busy with other things. Anyways, a few updates on the happy stuff:

Welcome Christian! – My baby nephew is here! He’s so cute and looks just like his dad. It’s too bad he is in HK. I can’t wait to see him. Congrats to Chrissy & Eric.

Thanksgiving Party – Last Sunday we raided WuWu’s house for a Thanksgiving potluck party. I tried making baked mushroom parcels which turned out better than I thought. Too bad it got cold pretty fast since we didn’t eat right away. Might try to make it again in Christmas.

Snowboarding Trip – Finally finalized the accommodations for the trip in December. There’ll be 8 of us that’s heading up to Whistler. Hopefully this time I’ll actually learn how to snowboard properly. Oh and I also just spurge on a new set of gears so I can’t wait to hit the slopes.

Side Notes:

The wedding stuff had been put aside because work went crazy. I did however browsed through some dresses for the bridesmaids. Also incase you don’t read my other blog, Inkubook is having a free book offer. I just made mine to test out their service. The book should be here in 2-3 weeks.

MMOEG?

I’ve been slow on the updates lately because the past week have been pretty busy for me at work. It’s the last quarter and everyone got crazy ideas which they want to try to bring in revenue.

Anyways, last Friday I met up with JL for dinner. We had fun talking about random stuff but the best conversation topic was on MMOEG! LOL Ok it’s massive multiplayer online…education game. Yes, education game like puzzles for kids! No I wasn’t drunk when I came up with this “interesting” idea. Hey you never know, it might just work. WaWa came over in the evening and we played MJ together for the first time since like 4 years ago (or longer). I think we need to do this MJ thing more often.

Saturday WuWu and I went window shopping for clothes and also went to pick out his glasses. Afterwards we picked up the twins and went back to his place to have dinner (I played chef). We also did some digging for Whistler accommodations because it had been a while since we all went on a snowboarding trip. However it seemed most places were fully booked and those that have room are super expensive.

So on Sunday morning I got up at 8am and start calling up hotels/lodges at Whistler to get room rates and availability. I didn’t have much luck but after lunch, I called Whistler’s central reservations and found a really good deal on two rooms with kitchenette. The location is about 2 minutes walk to the lifts! We’re planning to bring food up to cut cost so hopefully the whole trip would be around $300 per person. The price works out to be $67/night per person which is pretty good compared to all the other ones I’ve seen. Even better than the ones by 3rd party vendors that offers discounted rates.

So it looks like we’ll be going to Whistler this December on the 19th to 21st. Hopefully the snow will be good.

PS: Thanks JL for the purple scarf & grapes! They were a little sour but it’s nice to snack on (I was popping them while playing MJ on Friday night).

Stuff I’ve Missed – Recap for June

For those that haven’t seen or were not aware of it (although the link IS at the sidebar), I’ve recently put a check mark next to the “get a qi pao” of my wedding checklist. It’s red with gold dragon & phoenix design. There are other stuff on there also but I forgot what they were. Al said they are pairs of fish. For more details, visit my post on the my Wedding Notebook.

A couple weeks ago I had the pleasure of meeting up with Benny while he’s in town. The last time I saw Ben was I believe 3 years ago? I’m glad to see that he’s still skinny as a stick, a stick with a masters degree from Harvard! Congrats!

Talking to Ben always make me realize one thing: I love talking! Ok, maybe it’s the fact that we haven’t seen each other or talk much online (because -someone- doesn’t reply emails), but the conversation never stops during our three-hour meeting. Hopefully he’ll check his email often when he moves back to Asia so we can meet up when I go back for my honeymoon.

Ok this isn’t June but I forgot to post it so here’s a recap. Several weeks back Nathan and I met up again on MSN. I haven’t seen him online for ages, especially since he moved down to the States. We did a lot of catching up and found that he got engaged also! Congrats! I’m still waiting to see a picture of him and his fiance wearing matching WoW T-shirts.

Talking to Nathan brings back the concept of “little Jan”. He was the one that introduced this idea to me. Little Jan is like this part of me where feelings usually gets hidden away due to various reasons. For instance, people asking “How are you doing?” would generally get a “I’m doing OK.” reply. But is that how you really feel? Are you sure there’s nothing on your mind that excits you or bothers you even just a tiny bit? After talking to Nathan I kinda dug around to find little Jan and over the past month had done some self reflection on various areas. That was pretty interesting.
