Just a recap before you see the pictures. The wedding turned out really well. It was among one of the more organized ones I’ve been to. Waking up at 5am to get ready turned out to be pretty funny as multiple alarms started to go off and I still remember Chu wiggling off the bed to unplug her charging cellphone. I think we should have more girls sleepovers!

Anyways, as you can see from the previous post, we had a fun time making the boys do some weird games before we let them pick up Ying. I was then part of the crew (with Jen, Ames, Michelle, & Shirley) responsible for the tea ceremony and the decorations. We were well ahead of schedule and had fun chatting and fooling around before everyone arrives. The best moment of the day, aside from Ying & LawLi exchanging vows at the church, was when Shirely and I took off our shoes to decorate the reception hall. The carpet never felt soooo good.

Chu and LawTam did a fantastic job MC’ing the whole day. We finished the night with about 1hr of dancing. Mike was trying to teach me how to salsa dance. It was such a huge challenge as my feet seemed to be disconnected from my brain that night. I also got to meet up with some friends I had lost contact with since I graduated from SFU. It was really nice to see that everyone is doing great.

Here are some of the pictures from the cute couple’s wedding! LawLi look so different without glasses. I’m hoping to get more pictures from Mike and LawTam later. Will upload once I get them.

I was pretty busy this past weekend, from meetings to movies to attending a wedding, this Victoria Day long weekend zoomed by much quicker than it should. Anyways, congratulations Ying & LawLi! I remember when I first me you guys in grade 10, when Ying to her big, gold rimmed glasses and LawLi looked like some grade schooler with his messy hair. I’m glad I could be part of your big day! I didn’t have time to get the photos ready for uploading but I did managed to merge all the clips I took during the open door games (when the groom comes to pick up the bride). Dave picked up a Flip for me when he was a the states last week. The quality is pretty good for something this size and cost. I did have to reduce the quality a bit when I make the movie since it’s 10 minutes long. The current file size is about 150MB. If you want the raw clips, I can zip them up and send it to you. Just fire me an email or post a comment here.

Enjoy! Oh and the hula part is a bit long but it’s pretty entertaining still.

Yesterday (May 10, 2008) was Jimmy & Cathy’s wedding. I had the pleasure to attend the ceremony and banquet with Al, Ken, WuWu, LawTam and a few others. As LawTam and myself are both getting married next year, we were snapping pictures of everything we found interesting so we can use it as a reference for our own wedding planning.

The wedding ceremony was at a church on 11th Avenue (sorry I don’t have the name since Al is hogging the invites). It’s a pretty big church with two aisles. It was beautifully decorated with pale yellow and white flowers. Here’s a photo of the groom waiting for the bride to show up and the next one shows the newly weds thanking the guests for coming.

The ceremony lasted longer than we thought (about 1.5 hours). We were all starving and thank goodness they had a small reception down stairs.

We had originally planned to go watch Iron Man after the ceremony since the banquet doesn’t start until 6pm. However we got asked to help out with moving stuff from the church to the banquet location, which is Kirin on 12th Avenue. So the movie plans got postponed to this Sunday instead.

At the restaurant, we helped set up the favors and centre pieces. I wish I was wearing flats but at least my legs were getting a workout from walking around in 2″ heels. Here are some pictures of the table settings.

The banquet was great. The only downside is that the restaurant is in a “T” shape, with the head tables situated in the intersection. There are tables to the sides that can not see anything because there were pillars blocking the view. So naturally all the closest friends were sitting around that area. We ended up partying among ourselves and it was really fun.

I’m waiting to get some of the photos back from Jimmy. Then I can post a close up picture of the newly wed and the group of us toasting.

Oh and here’s a picture of my (sorry I didn’t have a full length picture and my hair is a mess) in my dress.

[can you tell that I have makeup on?]

Last but not least, the day ended around 11:00pm. We got back to Al’s place around 12. All of us were really tired. Look what WuWu was caught doing while we were back at Al’s place.

[I wonder what he's dreaming about...]

So last week I went to the gym to get an orientation on how to use the machines. The trainer (or staff as they call him) was nice enough to work out a routine for me and Al. I told him I wanted to shape up since I’ve been a chair potato after I graduated from university. Plus I mentioned that I’m getting married next year. Once he heard that he was grinning, “Oh you’re one of those…” So I guess I’ve just joined the many other “must get fit and slim down” bride to be. Continue reading »

Earlier in last month, after the silly proposal (Al won’t let me tell anyone so I can’t say anything here), Al and I were looking at possible places to hold the wedding ceremony. It might seem odd to some people that we’re already booking vendors so early when our wedding date is July 25, 2009. The thing is, if you want a wedding in the summer season, that is on a weekend and a Saturday, chances are a lot of places are already booked, usually a year in advance. We’re just a little bit a head of the game. I want to make sure we can secure the date to the ceremony and reception locations asap so then the date is pretty much set in stone and I’ll never have to worry about this part again (I hope).
